The Hammersburg Family moves to Brooklyn, New York.

Lois's father goes off to the war. They move to Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

The Hammersburg family moves to Japan.
1950
Lois's mother moves the family back to Carlisle, while their father stayed in Japan.
1951
The family moves to Governors Island in New York City.

Lois goes to Brown University and drops out in 1956 to marry Donald Grey Lowry.
